After 20 years in Recycling Logistics, in October 2001 Bert van Meel decided to set up VM Logistics at Nijverheidsweg 3 in Rijkevorsel (Belgium). At that point he already had the foresight to start in the fast-growing market for recycling materials. His excellent network ensured a flying start for the company.
After 8 months, the company made its first move to Vaarkant Links 43 in Sint Lenaarts. It was soon necessary to purchase a small press for the growing demand for compressed goods. By 2006 the company needed to occupy a second warehouse in Sint Lenaarts. Due to rapid growth, the company acquired a large BOA press in 2008.
Sons Gert and Wim have been involved in the company from the very beginning. Gert was the first to make the switch to the transport zone in Meer. A company warehouse in the Londenstraat exposed the operators to the opportunities available at the logistics park between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
In 2010, the company purchased land in the Madridstraat to house the new head office. The growth did not stop there! The company now runs a large shredder there and, in 2012, a new warehouse was opened in the Brusselstraat. This was followed by another large warehouse in the Wenenstraat.
In July 2016, the company was taken over by Mr Pieter Goevaers, who had already accumulated 20 years of logistics experience in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Spain and America. That experience and the associated network were put into action in 2016 to develop the company to the next level.
Continued collaboration with sons Gert and Wim means VM Logistics continues to operate as a family business. We are proud of the fact that so many of our original customers are still customers today!
